Our Story:

At DIVE Coffee Roasters, coffee has always been more than just a drink—it’s been the fuel behind some of our most memorable moments. Our love for coffee began during our time serving in the Navy, where it was a staple of daily life. Whether it was a cup of coffee during early morning flight quarters, a quick pick-me-up with midrats (midnight rations), or keeping us sharp during bridge watch, coffee was always there to kickstart the day and keep us going. As the ship’s supply officer, responsible for everything from food to logistics, one thing was clear: running out of coffee was not an option. It was practically a matter of national security!
Of course, coffee in the Navy comes with its own traditions, and one of the most iconic is the "seasoned coffee mug." For those unfamiliar, it’s a time-honored practice among sailors to never wash their coffee mugs. Over time, the layers of coffee stains build up, creating what some might call a patina of pride—and what others might call a questionable health choice. But ask any sailor, and they’ll tell you: that mug carries stories, memories, and maybe even a little extra flavor. Do you really need to wash it? We’ll let you decide.
While serving in the Navy, we spent 10 incredible years living in Hawaii, where the phrase “Lucky we live Hawaii” became a daily reminder to embrace life’s simple joys. It was there that we truly learned the meaning of “Live Aloha”—a way of life rooted in kindness, respect, and connection. Hawaii’s unique relationship with coffee, from the iconic Kona beans to the small farms cultivating coffee on the islands, deepened our appreciation for the craft and its connection to the land.

The Name.
The name DIVE is a celebration of the things we love and value most. Picture this: a military diver raising a cup of coffee alongside a surfer and a fisherman in a laid-back coastal dive bar, sharing laughs over a friendly game of ring toss. Our name pays homage to members of the military (past and present), recreational adventurers, and, of course, the charm of dive bars, where everyone is welcome, and connections are made over simple pleasures.
